Around India In 80 Trains
Indian Maharaja, Part 1
Quite early on in our trip we boarded the luxury Indian Maharaja Deccan Odyssey in Mumbai for a seven day journey to Delhi. Though wonderful, it did quite a disservice in how we felt about our subsequent train journeys!
The first photo is Ms. Fogg surrounded by the group of hijras (see blog for explanation) followed by a few blissful moments on the train. The next few show a weaver in Aurangabad and the ancient Buddhist, Hindu and Jain caves at Ellora and Ajanta, world-heritage sites of rock-cut architecture carved between the 5th and 10th centuries.
Our next stop was the City Palace in Udaipur, a fusion of Rajasthani and Mughal architecture, and lastly we couldn't resist a shot of two of the most wonderful travelling companions.
