North and North East

After a long but beautiful train ride from New Jalpaiguri to Tinsukhia we visited the Deohall tea estate, and were given a tour by Rajiv Gogoi, tried our hands at tea tasting, then visited the Tea Estate Managers social club for a few whiskeys and a little tomfoolery.

We then drove to a Buddhist monastery with our police protection (!), lit a candle for my friend's brother Jasper, and tried some traditional Assamese tea-time treats.
