Around India In 80 Trains
Hotel Samrat
After realising that there were next to no budget hotels in Wankaner, we decided to change our train route slightly and stop at Rajkot for the night. After driving around for a lot longer than we probably needed, we arrived at a bright, cheerful and clean hotel in the centre of town with friendly and efficient staff.
Exhausted, we went up to our brightly lit twin room which had some of the comfiest beds we came across on our trip. The floors were squeaky clean and the purple bathroom, although dotted with tiny cockroaches around the bin, had a clean, new western toilet and constant hot water running at high pressure.
The hotel had a restaurant which we didn't test out and also offered a laundry service. Nothing to complain about, but nothing to write home about either, the hotel was perfect for a stopover and was less than a 15 minute auto-drive to the train station.
Double rooms start at Rs.650.
